RAIN
Well, for those of you who didn't know or couldn't have guessed, the Championship Race in Ionia on Sat. was rained out. This is the first time a State Race has been rained out in at least the last eight years. There was no hope. It has been rescheduled for SAT, Sept 27th in Ionia. Unfortunately this will put a crunch on being in the Homecoming Parade. I will email shortly and see if there is still interest amoung those of you who will be here and post again what the new plan is. Think DRY thoughts.....
Helmet found !!!
Monday, after the Qualifier, there was a helmet found at the track. It was not there Sunday, we cleaned up after everyone was gone. If you hung around and left your helmet or live around here and left one at the track please email me at babytown@aol.com and we'll get it back to you.
QUALIFIER SUCCESS !!
Michigan State Series Qualifiers #5 & #6 were a big success. In spite of the rain early in the week, the track was ready (Thanks Jim) and everything went well. A really BIG thanks needs to go out to several people. First- Judy Pettit and her whole (and then some) family for their tireless work in the hot concessions building. They worked without many breaks to make sure concessions was a big success, my sister-in-law Jennifer and Ed & Frances Lier for manning the water slide on Saturday, Michelle LaPointe for single handedly ( well almost, her husband helped too) topping the all time biggest 50/50 raffle in Northern Michigan BMX's history, Kari Scamazzo & Megan Crowder (old BMXer's) for making hourly water rounds to our hard working volunteers on the track, Kevin Suszek for his DJ expertise and keeping up with announcing and our sound system, Neil ( who I believe is Adam McNeill's uncle) for arranging EMS coverage for the races, Susan Cooper who helped with a little of everything from running errands to wrapping burgers and everything in between, and finally to our Track Director (and Chris & Matt who were drug around a fair amount) for all his hard work- without which the track would not have been ready!!! We may be small but we are mighty-- never underestimate the power of teamwork !!!! Thank you ALL soooo much !!! Ionia is coming up... be ready!!
